Not Acceptable

BUSH TERMS RELIEF EFFORTS 'NOT ACCEPTABLE'

WASHINGTON — President Bush, facing blistering criticism for his administration's response to Hurricane Katrina, said Friday "the results are not acceptable.''

No fucking shit, Sherlock.

Up until last night, I intentionally did not watch any coverage of the Katrina aftermath, not out of denial, but out of self-preservation. I knew it would simultaneously break my heart and whip me into a rage of epic proportions. Last night’s "Prime Time" special on NBC proved me right.

There have been many occasions on which I have wanted to choke the Texas accent out of our fine president with my bare hands, but every one of them pales in comparison to this.

Because this:

is what happens when you cut infrastructure funding.

This:

is what happens when a disaster strikes while the NATIONAL guard has been sent half a world away to fucking IRAQ.

This:

is what happens when you allow corporate greed to destroy the environment’s natural protections.

And this:

Is what happens when you try to run the country while on vacation in goddam Texas.

People are really and truly dying of dehydration on the streets of 21st-century America. What exactly is it going to take for this administration to get its head out of its collective ass?

Right on sister.

Words do not properly express the rage I feel towards the greedy bumbling ineptitude of this administration.

I think people are finally figuring out that W DOES NOT GIVE A SHIT ABOUT THE CITIZENS OF THIS COUNTRY WHO DON'T DONATE LARGE SUMS OF MONEY TO HIS PARTY.

It's disgraceful.

You make me proud, well said! I have spent the day, alternating between rage at the posturing of policy makers who have turned their backs on the most vulnerable in our country, and grief at the horrible conditions that my fellow citizens are enduring. Why does our government continiue to bury their heads in the sand and not pay any attention to the realities of this world? Where are our priorities as a nation? And why does it take rage and indignation from the media to finally get their attention. W's trips to the gulf are a joke, or an insult...I can't decide which.

first of all: brilliant post. You rocked my world just a little today.

second: I love how people can be so damn self righteous when they are "Anonymous." Freak. If you don't agree, CLOSE THE PAGE AND MOVE ON.

Sorry, I hate it when people are rude and won't even own up to it.

ESG: You really are a supergoddess. Please come over to my hall of justice any time.

And to anonymous: President Bush may be doing his best, but it looks to a lot of us that his best is not good enough. We feel that he is failing our country.

I can't speak for anyone else here, but what I'm doing is organizing a blood drive. It's a start. I don't care what you've done, but I hope you've done something too.

God Bless us all.
